Weld cladding increases steel mill productivity because the rollers last longer and hence do not need to be repaired so often. The rollers are subjected to intense heat in continuous casting mills and it is a highly corrosive environment for the rollers due to their exposure to chemicals. Weld clad surface rollers are protected with the latest cladding materials so they can operate in this harsh environment over a long period of time.
